PAFOS FC: DMYTRO MYKHAYLENKO APPOINTED AS PAFOS HEAD COACH

Pafos, Cyprus, October 19, 2020 – Pafos FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Dmytro Mykhaylenko as our new Head Coach.

The 47 year-old coach arrives to Pafos after his departure from the Ukrainian SC Dnipro 1, where he spent the last 3 years. Dmytro guided Dnipro 1 to the Vice Champion title of the Second Ukrainian League in 2017/2018 season and Champion title of the First Ukrainian League in 2018/19 season, which consequently saw them being promoted to the Ukrainian Premier League. He was awarded with Best Coach of The Second Ukrainian League and Best Coach of the First Ukrainian League titles in 2017/18 and 2018/19 respectively. Prior to that, Mykhaylenko was coaching Dnipro youth team, which won the Ukrainian Youth Championship in 2014/15 under his leadership. He was also a part of Juan Ramon’s coaching team when Dnipro played in Europa League Final.

Throughout his professional player career, Dmytro played for Dinamo Kiev, winning the Ukrainian Premier League for 7 consecutive years from 1995 to 2001. He is also a 4-time winner of the Ukrainian Cup and semi-finalist of Champions League 1999 with Dinamo. Dmytro was in both USSR and Ukrainian national teams, he played 23 games for the Ukrainian team, scoring 2 goals in international competitions.

Mykhaylenko is well acquainted with Cypriot football, having played for APOP Kinyras for 2 years (2007-2009) and taking the Cypriot Cup with the team in 2009.

Dmytro will be joined at the Club by his assistant Roman Sharonov. Former Russian footballer, he played for Rubin, becoming Russian Premier League Champion in 2008 and 2009, Bronze winner in 2003 and 2010, Russian Cup winner in 2012 and Russian Supercup winner in 2010 and 2012. Roman is Russian Second Division Champion 1998 With Mettallurg and Russian First Division Champion with Shinnik. He played for Russian national team from 2004 to 2012.

Two Spanish assistants will also join Mykhaylenko in Pafos: Miguel Grau and Miguel Herrera Diaz. Miguel Grau’s manager career started in Valencia C.F followed by a shorter period in Levante U.D. Starting with U9 in Valencia C.F he was gradually promoted to coach the Reserve Team. Miguel Herrera Diaz has acted as a Physical Coach for the first team in such teams as Levante UD, FC Cartagena, Club Nacional de Football Apertura Uruguay, Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito Apertura Ecuador, FC Platanias and CD Legandes. He was also a Physical Coach and Assistant Coach for Toni Seligrat at Huracan Valencia CF, Physical Trainer National Academy U15, U17, U20 at Mauritanian Soccer Federation and academy Fitness Coach U16, U 15 at Valencia CF.
